TECHNOLOGIES EXTENDS XYLOC'S CONVENIENCE AND SECURITY WITH
XYCRYPT AUTOMATIC ENCRYPTION
Ensure's
XyLoc Security Solution Now Secures Data in Addition to Computers
Ann
Arbor, Michigan, October 3, 2000 –
Ensure Technologies, the award-winning leader in intelligent
wireless PC security solutions, today announced the availability
of XyCrypt, an automatic encryption technology that makes
sensitive information on notebook computers more secure than
ever before possible. A new feature of Ensure's XyLoc wireless
computer security solution, XyCrypt File Encryption prevents
unauthorized access to data files on the hard drive of a notebook
or desktop PC, even if other security measures have been surmounted.
XyCrypt extends XyLoc's convenience and security by automatically
and transparently encrypting the user's data files, creating
an additional and powerful level of information security.
Ensure
will be demonstrating XyLoc with XyCrypt this week at:
- Financial
Technology Expo 2000, October 3-5, at the Jacob K. Javits
Convention Center in New York, New York (Booth 339) and
- Windows
on Healthcare 2000 - the Annual Meeting of the Microsoft
Healthcare Users Group (MS-HUG) - October 2-5 at the Las
Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas, Nevada (Booth 822).
XyLoc
offers users both high security and convenience - something
previously unavailable from the many security and encryption
systems on the market. It automatically secures the notebook
or PC when the user steps away and can automatically unlock
the PC when the user returns (or require the entry of a password
for an additional layer of security).
XyCrypt
extends XyLoc's convenience and security by automatically
and transparently encrypting the user's data files.
"Juicy,
full of the corporation's life blood and promise, and unfortunately
often recklessly unguarded, the executive laptop is targeted
by the information thief as the youngest gazelle is by the
lion," explained Glenn Gabriel Ben-Yosef, an information security
analyst with Clear Thinking Research, Inc. in Boston. "While
all networks have at least some rudimentary security, in practice,
laptops hardly ever do. Scoring an exec's PC in an airport,
on the road, or even right out from under her nose is irreversible
and can destroy the livelihood of thousands of people. XyLoc's
automatic encryption renders such a theft harmless beyond
the cost of the actual hardware, which, unlike the data it
contains, is easily replaced."
"The
recent theft of a laptop computer owned by Qualcomm's CEO
is just one instance of how great a need there is for computer
security solutions like XyLoc. Our customers rely on XyLoc
to protect sensitive information from falling into the wrong
hands," said George Brostoff, co-founder and president of
Ensure Technologies. "XyLoc can prevent misfortune, like misplacing
or having a computer stolen, from becoming catastrophe. With
XyCrypt, even if a computer is physically stolen, the valuable
information stored on it will remain protected."
"In
the energy industry proprietary information is so valuable
that bounties exist for laptops belonging to top executives,"
said Alan M. Wright, CFO at CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE:
CMS), a diversified international energy company. "We're seriously
considering the XyLoc security system to give our executives
peace of mind when they walk away from their machines. With
the added functionality of automatic file encryption, we'll
know our information is even more secure."
XyLoc
is a patented, centrally managed, automatic computer security
solution that prevents unauthorized access to confidential
PC-based information, and simultaneously makes access to network
services and applications more convenient for authorized employees.
XyLoc's full-time access control technology protects sensitive
data when it is most vulnerable - after logon, when the authorized
user - for whatever reason - steps away from the PC.
Suited
for professionals who need easy, yet secure, access to information
"on the fly," XyLoc is proximity-activated and completely
"hands-free," requiring no user interaction. Because it enables
the computer to know automatically and effortlessly who is
requesting access to its resources, XyLoc offers security
features and flexibility previously unavailable. XyLoc also
simplifies PKI implementations and protects digital certificates
stored on PCs increasing the security of e-commerce transactions.
Ensure
is an associate member of the Bluetooth Special Interest
Group (SIG), a group working toward a wireless technology
specification that provides links between mobile computers,
mobile phones and other portable and handheld devices, and
connectivity to the Internet. As more Bluetooth devices
come to market, security will become essential to protect
these devices from unauthorized access. Using XyLoc's patented
technology, network managers can easily load and manage digital
certificates on any Bluetooth PC, phone or PDA, which
will add powerful security features to Bluetooth devices
and appliances.
