Bluetooth SIG to Provide Ensure with Early Access to
Specifications and Opportunity to Become Active Member in
Technical Working Group to Develop Specification
Ann
Arbor, Michigan, July 24, 2000 –
Ensure Technologies, the award-winning leader in intelligent
wireless PC security solutions, today announced that it has
expanded its Bluetooth partnership initiatives by becoming
an Associate member of the Bluetooth Special Interest
Group (SIG). This expanded partnership will provide Ensure
with early access to new Bluetooth wireless technology
specifications. Additionally, Ensure is now given the opportunity
to become an active member in a number of the Bluetooth
technical working groups.
"The
Bluetooth Special Interest Group welcomes Ensure Technologies'
increased involvement within the Bluetooth SIG," said
Simon Ellis of Intel Corporation and Marketing Chairman of
the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. "Ensure Technologies'
expertise in wireless security will help to develop new commercial
and consumer usage models that can take advantage of the Bluetooth
wireless technology."
"We
are delighted to be invited to expand our partnership with
the Bluetooth SIG," said Dr. Thomas Xydis, co-founder
and chief technologist of Ensure Technologies. "We have thus
far enjoyed and valued our participation with the Bluetooth
SIG. XyLoc continues to be recognized as a very compelling
Bluetooth application that delivers convenience, personalization
and security to Bluetooth appliances and devices. We
look forward to the opportunity of taking on a more active
role within the technical working groups and promoting Bluetooth's
wireless technology initiatives and progress."
Dr.
Xydis was a featured presenter at the "Interacting with the
Experts" symposium at the Bluetooth Developers Conference
where he presented a paper on "Full-Time Wireless Security
Using Bluetooth."
Ensure's
XyLoc is a robust personalization and security application
that will showcase Bluetooth wireless technology. As
more Bluetooth devices come to market, security will
become essential to protect these devices from unauthorized
access. Using XyLoc's patented technology, network managers
can easily load and manage digital certificates on any Bluetooth
PC, phone or PDA, which will add powerful security features
to Bluetooth devices and appliances. XyLoc will allow
Bluetooth devices to positively recognize and identify
authorized users and make Bluetooth phones and PDAs
more convenient to use.
The
Bluetooth wireless technology (www.bluetooth.com)
is set to revolutionize the personal connectivity market by
providing freedom from wired connections. It is a specification
for a small form-factor, low-cost radio solution that provides
links between mobile computers, mobile phones and other portable
and handheld devices, and connectivity to the Internet. The
Bluetooth SIG, comprised of leaders in the telecommunications,
computing, and networking industries, is driving development
of the technology and bringing it to market. The Bluetooth
SIG includes promoter companies 3Com, Ericsson, IBM, Intel,
Lucent, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia and Toshiba, and more than
1,800 adopter companies.
XyLoc
is a patented, centrally managed, automatic computer security
solution that prevents unauthorized access to confidential
PC-based information, and simultaneously makes access to network
services and applications more convenient for authorized employees.
XyLoc's full-time access control technology protects sensitive
data when it is most vulnerable - after logon, when the authorized
user - for whatever reason - steps away from the PC.
Suited
for professionals who need easy, yet secure, access to information
"on the fly," XyLoc is proximity-activated and completely
"hands-free," requiring no user interaction. Because it enables
the computer to know automatically and effortlessly who is
requesting access to its resources, XyLoc offers security
features and flexibility previously unavailable. XyLoc also
simplifies public key infrastructure (PKI) implementations
and protects digital certificates stored on PCs, increasing
the security of e-commerce transactions.
